Lk. 2:46 Then, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. 49 And He said to them, "Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father's house?"
Mt. 3:15 But Jesus answering said to him, "Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he *permitted Him.
Mt. 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" 7 Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'" 10 Then Jesus *said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'" [Lk. 4.4, 8, 12]
Mk. 1:15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel." [Mt. 4:17]
Jn. 1:38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?" 39 He *said to them, "Come, and you will see." So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
Jn. 1:42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter). Mt. 4:19 And He *said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Jn. 1:47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!" 48 Nathanael *said to Him, "How do You know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." 50 Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these." 51 And He *said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
Jn. 2:4 And Jesus *said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with us? My hour has not yet come." 7 Jesus *said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." So they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He *said to them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it to him.
Jn. 2:16 and to those who were selling the doves He said, "Take these things away; stop making My Father's house a place of business." 19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."
Jn. 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." 5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8 "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Jn. 3:10 Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things? 11 "Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony. 12 "If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 "No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. 14 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 "He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 "This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 "For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 "But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
Jn. 4:7 There *came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus *said to her, "Give Me a drink." 10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." 13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." 16 He *said to her, "Go, call your husband and come here." 17 The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus *said to her, "You have correctly said, 'I have no husband'; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly."
Jn. 4:21 Jesus *said to her, "Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." 26 Jesus *said to her, "I who speak to you am He."
Jn. 4:32 But He said to them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about." 34 Jesus *said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. 35 "Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. 36 "Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 "For in this case the saying is true, 'One sows and another reaps.' 38 "I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor."
Jn. 4:48 So Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you simply will not believe." 49 The royal official *said to Him, "Sir, come down before my child dies." 50 Jesus *said to him, "Go; your son lives." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started off.
Lk. 4:18 "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, 19 TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD." 21 And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."
Lk. 4:23 And He said to them, "No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me, 'Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we heard was done at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.'" 24 And He said, "Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown. 25 "But I say to you in truth, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land; 26 and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 "And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."
Lk. 4:35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him without doing him any harm. [Mk. 1.25]
Lk. 4:43 But He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose." [Mk. 1.38]
Lk. 5:4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men." [Mt. 4.19, Mk. 1. 17]
Lk. 5:13 And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately the leprosy left him. 14 And He ordered him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them." [Mt. 8.3-4, Mk. 1.41-44]
Mt. 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5 “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. 6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10 “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 “Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Mt. 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Mt. 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19 "Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Mt. 5:21 “You have heard that the ancients were told, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER' and 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.' 22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,' shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell. 23 “Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering. 25 “Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 “Truly I say to you, you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last cent.
Mt. 5:27 “You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 “If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 “If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.
Mt. 5:31 "It was said, 'WHOEVER SENDS HIS WIFE AWAY, LET HIM GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE'; 32 but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the reason of unchastity, makes her commit adultery; and whoever Marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Mt. 5:33 “Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, 'YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FALSE VOWS, BUT SHALL FULFILL YOUR VOWS TO THE LORD.' 34 “But I say to you, make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, or by Jerusalem, for it is THE CITY OF THE GREAT KING. 36 “Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 “But let your statement be, 'Yes, yes' or 'No, no'; anything beyond these is of evil.
Mt. 5:38 “You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' 39 “But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 “If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. 41 “Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 “Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.
Mt. 5:43 “You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' 44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 “If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Mt. 6:1 “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 2 “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 3 “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Mt. 6:5 “When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6 "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
Mt. 6:9 “Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread. 12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.' 14 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
Mt. 6:16 “Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 17 “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face 18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
Mt. 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Mt.
7:1 “Do not judge so that you will not be
judged. 2 “For
in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it
will be measured to you.
Mt. 7:6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. 12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. 13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. 15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 “You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 “A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 “So then, you will know them by their fruits. 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 “Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 “And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
Mt. 8:7 Jesus
*said to him, "I will come and heal him."
8 But the centurion said, "Lord, I am not
worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant
will be healed. 10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were
following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found
such great faith with anyone in
Lk. 7:13 When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep." 14 And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise!"
Mt. 9:2 And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven." 3 And some of the scribes said to themselves, "This fellow blasphemes." 4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts? 5 “Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, and walk'? 6 “But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--then He *said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your bed and go home." [Mk. 2.4-11, Lk. 5.20-24]
Mt. 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He *said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him. [Mk. 2.14, Lk. 5.27]
Mt. 9:11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?" 12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick. Lk. 5:32 "I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance." 13 “But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners." 14 Then the disciples of John *came to Him, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?" 15 And Jesus said to them, "The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn [Lk. 5.34 fast] as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. 16 "But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results [Lk. 5.36 and the piece from the new will not match the old.]. 17 “Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved." Lk. 5:39 "And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'" [Mk. 2.17-22]
Jn. 5:8 Jesus *said to him, "Get up, pick up your pallet and walk." 11 But he answered them, "He who made me well was the one who said to me, 'Pick up your pallet and walk.'" 12 They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Pick up your pallet and walk'?" 14 Afterward Jesus *found him in the temple and said to him, "Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you."
Jn. 5:17 But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working." 19 Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 "For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. 21 "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.
Jn. 5:22 "For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all will honor the Son even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 "For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; 27 and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man. 28 "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, 29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment. 30 "I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
Jn. 5:31 "If I alone testify about Myself, My testimony is not true. 32 "There is another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimony which He gives about Me is true. 33 "You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. 34 "But the testimony which I receive is not from man, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 "He was the lamp that was burning and was shining and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 "But the testimony which I have is greater than the testimony of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish--the very works that I do--testify about Me, that the Father has sent Me. 37 "And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. 38 "You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent.
Jn. 5:39 "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; 40 and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. 41 "I do not receive glory from men; 42 but I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves. 43 "I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 "How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God? 45 "Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; the one who accuses you is Moses, in whom you have set your hope. 46 "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. 47 "But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"
Lk. 8:45 And Jesus said, "Who
is the one who touched Me?" And while they were all denying it, Peter
said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You." 46 But Jesus said, "Someone
did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me." Mt. 9:22 But Jesus turning and seeing her
said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made
you well." At once the woman was made well. [Mk.
5:34 go in peace and be healed of your
affliction."]
Mk. 5:36 But Jesus, overhearing what was being
spoken, *said to the synagogue official, "Do not
be afraid any longer, only believe." 39
And entering in, He *said to them, "Why make a
commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep." [Lk. 8.52 Stop weeping][Mt. 9:24 Leave] 41 Taking the child by the hand, He *said to her, "Talitha kum!" (which translated means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!"). [Lk. 8.54 "Child,
arise!"]
Mt. 9:28 When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus *said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They *said to Him, "Yes, Lord." 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "It shall be done to you according to your faith." 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them: "See that no one knows about this!"
Mt. 9:37 Then He *said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."
Mt. 10:5 These
twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: "Do
not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans; 6 but rather go to the lost sheep
of the house of

Mt. 10:29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 “So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. 32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
Mt. 10:34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 “For I came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER, AND A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AGAINST HER MOTHER-IN-LAW; 36 and A MAN'S ENEMIES WILL BE THE MEMBERS OF HIS HOUSEHOLD. 37 “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 “He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it. 40 “He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. 41 “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 42 “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward."
Mt. 11:4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you hear and see: 5 the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. 6 “And blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." [Lk. 7.22-23]
Mt. 11:7 As these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 “But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings' palaces! 9 “But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. 10 “This is the one about whom it is written, 'BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.' 11 “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 “From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force. 13 “For all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 “And if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come. 15 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear. [Lk. 7.24-28]
Mt. 11:16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the Market places, who call out to the other children, 17 and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.' 18 “For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon!' 19 “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds." Lk. 7:35 "Yet wisdom is vindicated by all her children."
Mt. 11:25 At that time Jesus said, "I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. 26 “Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 27 “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Lk. 7:40 And Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he replied, "Say it, Teacher." 41 "A moneylender had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 "When they were unable to repay, he graciously forgave them both. So which of them will love him more?" 43 Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more." And He said to him, "You have judged correctly." 44 Turning toward the woman, He said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 "You gave Me no kiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet. 46 "You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume. 47 "For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." 48 Then He said to her, "Your sins have been forgiven." 50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
Mt. 12:3 But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions, 4 how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? 5 “Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? 6 “But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here. 7 “But if you had known what this means, 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. 8 “For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." [Mk. 2.25-28, Lk. 6.3-5]
Mt. 12:11 And He said to them, "What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 “How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep! So then, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Lk. 6:9 And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?" 13 Then He *said to the man, "Stretch out your hand!" He stretched it out, and it was restored to normal, like the other.
Lk. 6:20 And
turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began
to say, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours

Lk. 6:27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. 30 "Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. 31 "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you. 38 "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure--pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."
Lk. 6:32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 "If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34 "If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount. 35 "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. 36 "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. 37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
Lk. 6:39 And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. 41 "Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. [Mt. 7.3-5]
Lk. 6:43 "For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. 44 "For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. 45 "The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.
Lk. 6:46 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? 47 "Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: [Mt. 7.24 may be compared] 48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. [Mt. 7.25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.] 49 "But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation [26 sand]; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great." [Mt. 7.27 “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell--and great was its fall."]
Lk. 7:13 When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep." 14 And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise!"
Mt. 12:43 “Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. 44 “Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came'; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 “Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation."
Mt. 12:48 But Jesus answered the one who was telling Him and said, "Who is My mother and who are My brothers?" 49 And stretching out His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! 50 “For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother." Lk. 8:21 But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." [Mk. 3:33-35]
Mt. 13:3 And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, "Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 “Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 “But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 “Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 “And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 “He who has ears, let him hear." Lk. 8:5 “The sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell beside the road, and it was trampled under foot and the birds of the air ate it up. 6 “Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 “Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. 8 “Other seed fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as great." As He said these things, He would call out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." [Mk. 4.3-9]
Mt. 13:10 And the disciples came and said to Him, "Why do You speak to them in parables?" 11 Jesus answered them, "To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them [Lk. 8.10 the rest] it has not been granted. Mk. 4:11 And He was saying to them, "To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, 12 “For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 “Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 “In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, 'YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE; 15 FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.' 16 “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 “For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
Mt. 13:18 “Hear then the parable of the sower. 19 “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road. Mk. 4:13 And He *said to them, "Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand all the parables? 14 “The sower sows the word. 15 “These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. 20 “The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away. 22 “And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 23 "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." Lk. 8:11 “Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. 12 “Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. 13 "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 "But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance. [Mk. 4.16-20]
Mk. 4:21 And He was saying to them, "A lamp is not brought to be put under a basket, is it, or under a bed? Is it not brought to be put on the lamp stand? 22 “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light. 23 “If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear." 24 And He was saying to them, "Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides. 25 “For whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him." Lk. 8:16 "Now no one after lighting a lamp covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lamp stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 17 “For nothing is hidden that will not become evident, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. 18 "So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."
Mk. 4:26 And He was saying, "The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; 27 and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows--how, he himself does not know. 28 “The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head. 29 “But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."
Mt. 13:24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 “But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away. 26 “But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. 27 “The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' 28 “And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' The slaves *said to him, 'Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?' 29 “But he *said, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 ‘Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn."'"
Mt. 13:31 He
presented another parable to them, saying, "The
kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his
field; 32 and this
is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the
garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN
ITS BRANCHES." Mk. 4:30 And He
said, "How shall we picture the
Mt.
13:33 He spoke another parable to them, "The
kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of
flour until it was all leavened."
Mt. 13:37 And He
said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son
of Man, 38 and
the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the
tares are the sons of the evil one;
39 and the enemy who
sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers
are angels. 40 “So
just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the
end of the age. 41 “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will
gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit
lawlessness, 42 and
will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping
and gnashing of teeth. 43 “Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE
Mt. 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Mt. 13:47 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; 48 and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. 49 “So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous, 50 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 51 “Have you understood all these things?" They *said to Him, "Yes."
Mt. 13:52 And Jesus said to them, "Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old."
Mk. 4:35 On that day, when evening came, He *said to them, "Let us go over to the other side." 39 And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. 40 And He said to them, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" [Mt. 8.25, Lk. 8.22, 25]
Mk. 5:8 For He had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!" 9 And He was asking him, "What is your name?" And he *said to Him, "My name is Legion; for we are many." 19 And He did not let him, but He *said to him, "Go home to your people and report [Lk. 8.39 - describe] to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you." [Mt. 8.31-32, Lk. 8.30]
Mt. 13:57 And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household." [Lk. 4.24 no prophet is welcome][Mk. 6.4]
Mk. 6:31 And He *said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a
while." (For there were many people
coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) Jn. 6:5 Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and
seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, *said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?"
Mt. 14:16 But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!"
17 They *said to Him, "We have here only
five loaves and two fish." 18 And He said,
"Bring them here to Me." Mk.
6:38 And He *said to them, "How many loaves do
you have? Go look!" And when they found out, they *said,
"Five, and two fish." Lk. 9:14 (For
there were about five thousand men.) And He said to His disciples, "Have them sit down to
eat in groups of about fifty each."
Jn. 6:12 When they were filled, He *said to His
disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments so
that nothing will be lost."
Mt. 14:26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid." 28 Peter said to Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." 29 And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31 Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" [Mk. 6.45, Jn. 6.20]
Jn. 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because
you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. 27 "Do not work for the
food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the
Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His
seal." 28 Therefore they said to
Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom
He has sent."
Jn. 6:32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has
given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true
bread out of heaven. 33 "For the bread of God is that which comes down out of
heaven, and gives life to the world." 34
Then they said to Him, "Lord, always give us this bread." 35 Jesus said to them, "I
am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes
in Me will never thirst. 36 "But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not
believe. 37 "All
that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly
not cast out. 38 "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the
will of Him who sent Me. 39 "This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that
He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 "For this is the will
of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have
eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."
Jn. 6:41 Therefore the Jews were grumbling about
Him, because He said, "I am the bread that came
down out of heaven." 42 They were
saying, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we
know? How does He now say, 'I have come down out of
heaven'?" 43 Jesus answered and
said to them, "Do not grumble among yourselves.
44 "No one can
come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on
the last day. 45 "It is written in the prophets, 'AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF
GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 "Not that anyone has
seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.
47 "Truly, truly,
I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48
"I am the bread of life. 49 "Your fathers ate the
manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50
"This is the bread which comes down out of heaven,
so that one may eat of it and not die. 51
"I am the living bread that came down out of
heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also
which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh."
Jn. 6:53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of
the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 "He who eats My flesh
and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
55 "For My flesh
is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides
in Me, and I in him. 57 "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the
Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 "This is the bread
which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats
this bread will live forever."
Jn. 6:61 But Jesus, conscious that His disciples grumbled
at this, said to them, "Does this cause you to
stumble? 62 "What then if you see the
Son of Man ascending to where He was before? 63
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh
profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
64 "But there are
some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning
who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him. 65 And He was saying, "For
this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been
granted him from the Father." 67 So
Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go
away also, do you?" 70 Jesus
answered them, "Did I Myself not choose you, the
twelve, and yet one of you is a devil?"
Mt. 15:3 And He answered and said to them, "Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? [Mk. 7:8 "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men." 9 He was also saying to them, "You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. 10 "For Moses said,] 4 “For God said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER,' and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH.' 5 “But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or mother, "Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God," [Mk. 7:11 is Corban (that is to say, given to God),' 12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother; 13 thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that."] 6 he is not to honor his father or his mother.' And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 “You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: 8 ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 9 ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'" 10 After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, "Hear and understand. 11 “It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." [Mk. 7:14 After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them, "Listen to Me, all of you, and understand: 15 there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man. 16 ["If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear."]]
Mt. 15:13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted. 14 “Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit."
Mt. 15:16 Jesus said, "Are you still lacking in understanding also? 17 “Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? [Mk. 7:19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.)] 18 “But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. 19 “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. 20 “These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man."
Mt. 15:24 But He
answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost

Mk. 7:34 and looking
up to heaven with a deep sigh, He *said to him, "Ephphatha!"
that is, "Be opened!"
Mt. 15:32 And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, "I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way." [Mk. 8.3 and some of them have come from a great distance."] 34 And Jesus *said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" And they said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
Mt. 16:2 But He replied to them, "When it is evening, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.' 3 “And in the morning, 'There will be a storm today, for the sky is red and threatening.' Do you know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but cannot discern the signs of the times? 4 “An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, except the sign of Jonah." And He left them and went away. [Mk. 8:12 Sighing deeply in His spirit, He *said, "Why does this generation seek for a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation."]
Mt. 16:6 And Jesus said to them, "Watch out and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." [Mk. 8.15] 8 But Jesus, aware of this, said, "You men of little faith, why do you discuss among yourselves that you have no bread? [Mk. 8.17 Do you have a hardened heart?] 9 “Do you not yet understand or remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets full you picked up? 10 “Or the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many large baskets full you picked up? 11 “How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees." [Mk. 8.21 "Do you not yet understand?"]
Mk. 8:23 Taking the blind man by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, He asked him, "Do you see anything?" 26 And He sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village."
Mt. 16:13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" [Mk. 8.29] 15 He *said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 “I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
Lk. 9:22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day." Mt. 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's." 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself [Lk. 9.23 daily], and take up his cross and follow Me. 25 “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits [Lk. 9.25 adds and loses] his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 “For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. [Mk. 8.33-37] 28 “Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." Mk. 8:38 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."
Mt. 17:7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, "Get up, and do not be afraid." 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. 9 As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man has risen from the dead."
Mt. 17:11 And He answered and said, "Elijah is coming and will restore all things; Mk. 9:12 And He said to them, "Elijah does first come and restore all things. And yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He will suffer many things and be treated with contempt? 9:13 "But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come, and they did to him whatever they wished, just as it is written of him." 12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."
Mk. 9:16 And He asked them, "What are you discussing with them?" 21 And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. 23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?' All things are possible to him who believes." Mt. 17:17 And Jesus answered and said, "You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me." [Lk. 9.41] 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again."
Mt. 17:20 And He
*said to them, "Because of the littleness of your
faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and
nothing will be impossible to you. 21 "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and
fasting." [Mk. 9.29] 22 And while
they were gathering together in
Mt. 17:25 He *said, "Yes." And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth collect customs or poll-tax, from their sons or from strangers?" 26 When Peter said, "From strangers," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are exempt. 27 "However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me."
Mk. 9:33 They came to
Mk. 9:39 But Jesus said, "Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. 40 "For he who is not against us is for us. Lk. 9:50 But Jesus said to him, "Do not hinder him; for he who is not against you is for you." 41 "For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward. 42 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea. 43 "If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, 44 [where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.] 45 "If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into hell, 46 [where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED.] 47 "If your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into hell, 48 where THEIR WORM DOES NOT DIE, AND THE FIRE IS NOT QUENCHED. 49 "For everyone will be salted with fire. 50 "Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another." Mt. 18:8 "If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be cast into the eternal fire. 9 "If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be cast into the fiery hell. 10 "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.
Mt. 18:15 "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 "But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED. 17 "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 "Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19 "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."
Mt. 18:21 Then
Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against
me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" 22
Jesus *said to him, "I do not say to you, up to
seven times, but up to seventy times seven. 23
"For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be
compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his slaves. 24 "When he had begun to
settle them, one who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him.
25 "But since he
did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to be sold, along with his
wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. 26 "So the slave fell to the ground and
prostrated himself before him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay
you everything.' 27 "And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released
him and forgave him the debt.
Mt. 18:28 "But that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized him and began to choke him, saying, 'Pay back what you owe.' 29 "So his fellow slave fell to the ground and began to plead with him, saying, 'Have patience with me and I will repay you.' 30 "But he was unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. 31 "So when his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that had happened. 32 "Then summoning him, his lord *said to him, 'You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 'Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same way that I had mercy on you?' 34 "And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he should repay all that was owed him. 35 "My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does not forgive his brother from your heart."
Jn. 7:6 So Jesus *said to them, "My time is not yet here, but your time is always
opportune. 7 "The
world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds
are evil. 8 "Go
up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has
not yet fully come."
Lk. 9:55 But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, "You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; 56 for the Son of Man did not
come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."] And they went on
to another village.
Lk. 9:58 And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son
of Man has nowhere to lay His head." 59
And He said to another, "Follow Me."
But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." 60 But He said to him, "Allow
the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the
Jn. 7:16 So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 "If anyone is willing
to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from
Myself. 18 "He
who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of
the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
19 "Did not Moses
give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill
Me?"
Jn. 7:21 Jesus answered them, "I did one deed, and you all marvel. 22 "For this reason
Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers),
and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man. 23 "If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the
Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire
man well on the Sabbath? 24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with
righteous judgment."
Jn. 7:28 Then Jesus cried out in the temple,
teaching and saying, "You both know Me and know
where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true,
whom you do not know. 29 "I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent
Me."
Jn. 7:33 Therefore Jesus said, "For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to
Him who sent Me. 34 "You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am,
you cannot come."
Jn. 7:36 "What is this statement that He said, 'You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you
cannot come'?" 37 Now on the last
day, the great day of the feast, Jesus
stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is
thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38
"He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said,
'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'"
Jn. 8:7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He
straightened up, and said to them, "He who is without
sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?"
11 She said, "No one, Lord." And
Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go.
From now on sin no more." 12 Then
Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light
of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have
the Light of life."
Jn. 8:14 Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I testify about Myself, My testimony is true,
for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I
come from or where I am going. 15 "You judge according to the flesh; I am not judging
anyone. 16 "But
even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and the
Father who sent Me. 17 "Even in your law it has been written that the testimony
of two men is true. 18 "I am He who testifies about Myself, and the Father who
sent Me testifies about Me." 19 So
they were saying to Him, "Where is Your Father?" Jesus answered, "You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you
would know My Father also."
Jn. 8:21 Then He said again to them, "I go away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your
sin; where I am going, you cannot come." 22
So the Jews were saying, "Surely He will not kill Himself, will He, since
He says, 'Where I am going, you cannot come'?"
23 And He was saying to them, "You are from below, I am from above; you are of this
world, I am not of this world. 24 "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins;
for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." 25 So they were saying to Him, "Who are
You?" Jesus said to them, "What have I been
saying to you from the beginning? 26 "I have many things to speak and to judge concerning
you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I
speak to the world." 27 They did
not realize that He had been speaking to them about the Father. 28 So Jesus said, "When
you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on
My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me. 29 "And He who sent Me
is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are
pleasing to Him."
Jn. 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had
believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly
disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you
free." 33 They answered Him,
"We are Abraham's descendants and have never yet been enslaved to anyone;
how is it that You say, 'You will become free'?"
34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of
sin. 35 "The
slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.
36 "So if the Son
makes you free, you will be free indeed. 37
"I know that you are Abraham's descendants; yet
you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 38 "I speak the things
which I have seen with My Father; therefore you also do the things which you heard
from your
father."
Jn. 8:39 They answered and said to Him,
"Abraham is our father." Jesus *said to them, "If you are Abraham's children, do the deeds of Abraham. 40 "But as it is, you
are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from
God; this Abraham did not do. 41 "You are doing the deeds of your father."
They said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father:
God." 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I
proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own
initiative, but He sent Me. 43 "Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot
hear My word. 44 "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your
father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because
there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar
and the father of lies. 45 "But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.
46 "Which one of
you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 "He who is of God
hears the words of God; for this reason you do not hear them, because you are not
of God."
Jn. 8:49 Jesus answered, "I
do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 50 "But I do not seek My
glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 51
"Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My
word he will never see death." 52
The Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon. Abraham died,
and the prophets also; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste of death.'
Jn. 8:54 Jesus answered, "If
I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of
whom you say, 'He is our God'; 55 and you have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say
that I do not know Him, I will be a liar like you, but I do know Him and keep
His word. 56 "Your
father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and w as glad." 58 Jesus said to them, "Truly,
truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am."
Jn. 9:3 Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor
his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 "We must work the
works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can
work. 5 "While
I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." 7 and said to him, "Go,
wash in the pool of Siloam" (which is translated, Sent). So he went
away and washed, and came back seeing. 11 He answered, "The man who is called Jesus
made clay, and anointed my eyes, and said to me, 'Go to
Siloam and wash'; so I went away and washed, and I received sight."
35 Jesus heard that they had put him out, and
finding him, He said, "Do you believe in the Son
of Man?" 37 Jesus said to him, "You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is
talking with you." 39 And Jesus
said, "For judgment I came into this world, so
that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become
blind." 41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you
say, 'We see,' your sin remains.
Jn. 10:1 "Truly, truly,
I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but
climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. 2 "But he who enters by
the door is a shepherd of the sheep. 3 "To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his
voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 "When he puts forth
all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know
his voice. 5 "A
stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do
not know the voice of strangers."
Jn. 10:7 So Jesus said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 "All who came
before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 "I am the door; if
anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find
pasture. 10 "The
thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,
and have it abundantly. 11 "I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His
life for the sheep. 12 "He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who is not
the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees,
and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
13 "He flees because he is a
hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 "I am the good shepherd, and I
know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay
down My life for the sheep. 16 "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must
bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. 17 "For this reason the
Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again.
18 "No one has
taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority
to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received
from My Father."
Jn. 10:25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do
in My Father's name, these testify of Me. 26
"But you do not believe because you are not of My
sheep. 27 "My
sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to
them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
29 "My Father, who
has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's
hand. 30 "I
and the Father are one."
Jn. 10:32 Jesus answered them, "I showed you many good works from the Father; for which
of them are you stoning Me?" 34
Jesus answered them, "Has it not been written in
your Law, 'I SAID, YOU ARE GODS'? 35 "If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came
(and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36
do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent
into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
37 "If I do not do
the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38
but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe
the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I
in the Father."
Lk. 10:2 And He was saying to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
3 "Go; behold, I
send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. 4
"Carry no money belt, no bag, no shoes; and greet
no one on the way. 5 "Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.'
6 "If a man of
peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
7 "Stay in that
house, eating and drinking what they give you; for the laborer is worthy of his
wages. Do not keep moving from house to house. 8
"Whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat
what is set before you; 9 and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, 'The
Lk. 10:18 And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.
19 "Behold, I have
given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power
of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20
"Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the
spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in
heaven." 21 At that very time He
rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, "I
praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these
things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes,
Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight. 22 "All things have been
handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the
Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills
to reveal Him." 23 Turning to
the disciples, He said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see
the things you see, 24 for I say to you, that many prophets and kings wished to see
the things which you see, and did not see them, and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them."
Lk. 10:26 And He said to him, "What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?" 27 And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD
YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH,
AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 28 And He said to him, "You
have answered correctly; DO THIS AND YOU WILL LIVE." 30 Jesus replied and said, "A
man was going down from
Lk. 10:41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so
many things; 42 but
only one
thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken
away from her."
Lk. 11:2 And He said to them, "When you pray, say: 'Father,
hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.
3 'Give us each day our
daily bread. 4 'And
forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also
forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead
us not into temptation.'" 5 Then He
said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend,
and goes to him at midnight and says to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 for a friend of mine
has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; 7 and from inside he answers
and says, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and
I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.' 8 "I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him
anything
because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and
give him as much as he needs. 9 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 "For everyone who
asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be
opened. 11 "Now
suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him
a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion,
will he? 13 "If
you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much
more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask
Him?" [Mt. 7.7-11]
Mt. 12:25 And
knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, "Any
kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided
against itself will not stand. [Lk. 11:17 falls] Mt. 12.26
“If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against
himself; how then will his kingdom stand? Mk.
3:25 "If a house is divided against itself,
that house will not be able to stand. Mt. 12.26
“If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided,
he cannot stand, but he is finished! 27
“If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your
sons cast them out? For this reason they will be your judges. 28 “But if I cast out demons
by the Spirit of God [Lk. 11.20 finger of God], then the
Lk. 11:28 But He said, "On
the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it."
29 As the crowds were increasing, He began to
say, "This generation is a wicked generation; it
seeks for a sign, and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah. 30 "For just as Jonah
became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation.
Mt. 12.39 But He answered and said to
them, "An evil and adulterous generation craves
for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the
prophet; 40 for
just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so
will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
31 "The Queen of the South will rise up with
the men of this generation at the judgment and condemn them, because she came
from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something
greater than Solomon is here. [Mt. 12.42] 32
"The men of
Lk. 11:39 But the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of
the platter; but inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness. 40 "You foolish ones,
did not He who made the outside make the inside also? 41 "But give that which
is within as charity, and then all things are clean for you. 42 "But woe to you
Pharisees! For you pay tithe of mint and rue and every kind of garden herb, and yet disregard justice and
the love of God; but these are the things you should have done without
neglecting the others. 43 "Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the chief seats in
the synagogues and the respectful greetings in the market places. 44 "Woe to you! For you
are like concealed tombs, and the people who walk over them are unaware of it."
Lk. 11:46 But He said, "Woe
to you lawyers as well! For you weigh men down with burdens hard to bear, while
you yourselves will not even touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
47 "Woe to you! For
you build the tombs of the prophets, and it
was your fathers who killed them. 48 "So you are witnesses
and approve the deeds of your fathers; because it was they who killed them, and
you build their tombs. 49 "For this reason also
the wisdom of God said, 'I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will
kill and some they will persecute, 50
so that the blood of all the prophets, shed since the
foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to
the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God; yes, I tell you,
it shall be charged against this generation.' 52
"Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the
key of knowledge; you yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who were
entering."
Lk. 12:1 Under these circumstances, after so many
thousands of people had gathered together that they were stepping on one
another, He began saying to His disciples first of
all, "Beware of the leaven of the
Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 "But there is nothing covered up that will not be
revealed, and hidden that will not be known. 3
"Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark
will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will
be proclaimed upon the housetops. 4 "I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who
kill the body and after that have no more that they can do. 5 "But I will warn you
whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into
hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him! 6 "Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is
forgotten before God. 7 "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. 8 "And I say to you,
everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will confess him also
before the angels of God; 9 but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the
angels of God. 10 "And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man,
it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will
not be forgiven him. 11 "When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers
and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your
defense, or what you are to say; 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you
ought to say."
Lk. 12:14 But He said to him, "Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?" 15 Then He said to them, "Beware,
and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an
abundance does his life consist of his possessions." 16 And He told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man was very productive. 17 "And he began
reasoning to himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no place to store
my crops?' 18 "Then
he said, 'This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger
ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 'And I will say to my
soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease,
eat, drink and be merry."' 20 "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your soul is
required of you; and now who will own what you have prepared?' 21 "So is the man who
stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."
Mt. 6:25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 “Look at the birds of the air [Lk. 12.24 ravens], that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more [v. 24 how much more valuable] than they? 27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? [Lk. 12.26 "If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?] 28 “And why are you worried about clothing? [Lk. 12.27 Consider] Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 “Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?' [Lk. 12.29 "And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.] 32 “For the Gentiles [Lk. 12.30 nations of the world] eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Lk. 12:32 "Do not be
afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen glad to give you the kingdom.
33 "Sell your possessions
and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an
unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.
34 "For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35
"Be dressed in readiness, and keep your lamps lit.
36 "Be like men
who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so
that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks. 37 "Blessed are those
slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to
you, that he will gird himself to serve, and have them recline at
the table, and will come up and wait on
them. 38 "Whether
he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are
those slaves. 39 "But be sure of this,
that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he
would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 40 "You too, be ready;
for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect." [Mt. 24.43-44]
Lk. 12:42 And the Lord said, "Who then is the faithful and sensible steward [Mt. 24.45 slave], whom his master will put in charge of his servants, to give them their rations at the proper time? 43 "Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. 44 "Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 45 "But if that [Mt. 24.48 evil] slave says in his heart, 'My master will be a long time in coming,' and begins to beat the slaves, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk [Mt. 24.49 with drunkards]; 46 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and assign him a place with the unbelievers [Mt. 24.51 hypocrites]. [Mt. 24.51 and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.] 47 "And that slave who knew his master's will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will receive many lashes, 48 but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more. Mk. 13:33 "Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come. 34 "It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. 35 "Therefore, be on the alert--for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning-- 36 in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep. 37 "What I say to you I say to all, 'Be on the alert!'"
Lk. 12:49 "I have come
to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 "But I have a baptism
to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished! 51 "Do you suppose that I
came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; 52 for from now on five members in one household
will be divided, three against two and two against three. 53 "They will be
divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and
daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and
daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." 54
And He was also saying to the crowds, "When you
see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'A shower is coming,' and
so it turns out. 55 "And when you see a south wind blowing, you say, 'It will be a hot day,' and
it turns out that way. 56 "You hypocrites! You
know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why do you not
analyze this present time? 57 "And why do you not even on your own initiative judge
what is right? 58 "For while you are going with your opponent to appear
before the magistrate, on your way there make an effort to settle with him, so that he may not drag
you before the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the
officer throw you into prison. 59 "I say to you, you will not get out of there until you
have paid the very last cent."
Lk. 13:2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because
they suffered this fate? 3 "I tell you, no, but
unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 "Or do you suppose that those
eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all
the men who live in
Lk. 13:12 When Jesus saw her, He called her over and
said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your
sickness." 15 But the Lord answered
him and said, "You hypocrites, does not each of
you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away
to water him? 16 "And this woman, a
daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years,
should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?"
Lk. 13:18 So He was saying, "What
is the
Lk. 13:24 "Strive to
enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and
will not be able. 25 "Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door,
and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to
us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'
26 "Then you will
begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our
streets'; 27 and
He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL
YOU EVILDOERS.' 28 "In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of
teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the
kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. 29 "And they will come from east and
west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the
Lk. 13:32 And He said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and
perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I reach My goal.'
33 "Nevertheless I
must journey on today and tomorrow and the next day; for it cannot be
that a prophet would perish outside of
Lk. 14:3 And Jesus answered and spoke to the lawyers
and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on
the Sabbath, or not?" 5 And He said
to them, "Which one of you will have a son or an
ox fall into a well, and will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath
day?"
Lk. 14:8 "When you are
invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for
someone more distinguished than you may have been invited by him, 9 and he who invited you both
will come and say to you, 'Give your place to this man,' and then in disgrace you proceed to
occupy the last place. 10 "But when you are invited, go and recline at the last
place, so that when the one who has invited you comes, he may say to you,
'Friend, move up higher'; then you will have honor in the sight of all who are
at the table with you. 11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he
who humbles himself will be exalted." 12
And He also went on to say to the one who had invited Him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite
your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, otherwise
they may also invite you in return and that will be your repayment. 13
"But when you give a reception, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed,
since they do not have the means to repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of
the righteous."
Lk.14:16 But He said to him, "A man was giving a big dinner, and he invited many; 17 and at the dinner hour he
sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, 'Come; for everything is
ready now.' 18 "But
they all alike began to make excuses. The first one said to him, 'I have bought
a piece of land and I need to go out and look at it; please consider me
excused.' 19 "Another
one said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out;
please consider me excused.' 20 "Another one said, 'I have married a wife, and for that
reason I cannot come.' 21 "And the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the head of the
household became angry and said to his slave, 'Go out at once into the streets
and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and
lame.' 22 "And
the slave said, 'Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is
room.' 23 "And
the master said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and along the hedges,
and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled. 24 'For I tell you, none of
those men who were invited shall taste of my dinner.'"
Lk. 14:26 "If anyone
comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children
and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.
27 "Whoever does
not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 "For which one of
you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the
cost to see if he has enough to complete it? 29
"Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is
not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, 30 saying, 'This man began to
build and was not able to finish.' 31 "Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in
battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with
ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty
thousand? 32 "Or
else, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for
terms of peace. 33 "So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not
give up all his own possessions. 34 "Therefore, salt is good; but if even salt has become
tasteless, with what will it be seasoned? 35
"It is useless either for the soil or for the
manure pile; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
Mt. 18:11 "For the Son of Man has come to save that which was
lost. 12 "What
do you think? If any man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray [Lk. 15.4 has lost one of them], does he not leave the
ninety-nine on the mountains and go and search for the one that is straying?
[Lk. 15.4 which
is lost until he finds it?] 13 "If it turns out that he finds it [Lk. 15.5 he lays it on his shoulders], truly I say to you, he
rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray.
14 "So it is not the will of your Father
who is in heaven that one of these little ones perish. Lk. 15.6 "And when he
comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them,
'Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!' 7 "I tell you that in
the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over
ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. 8 "Or what woman, if she
has ten silver coins and loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the
house and search carefully until she finds it? 9
"When she has found it, she calls together her
friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin
which I had lost!' 10 "In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the
presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
Lk. 15:11 And He said, "A
man had two sons. 12 "The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give
me the share of the estate that falls to me.' So he divided his wealth between
them. 13 "And
not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a
journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose
living. 14 "Now
when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he
began to be impoverished. 15 "So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens
of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 "And he would have
gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one
was giving anything to him. 17 "But when he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of
my father's hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with
hunger! 18 'I
will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have
sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19
I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as
one of your hired men."' 20 "So he got up and came to his father. But while he was
still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and
embraced him and kissed him. 21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against
heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.' 22 "But the father said
to his slaves, 'Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a
ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23
and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat
and celebrate; 24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he
was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate.
Lk. 15:25 "Now his older
son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music
and dancing. 26 "And
he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be. 27 "And he said to him,
'Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he
has received him back safe and sound.' 28
"But he became angry and was not willing to go in;
and his father came out and began pleading with him. 29
"But he answered and said to his father, 'Look!
For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command
of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might
celebrate with my friends; 30 but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth
with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.' 31 "And he said to him,
'Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 'But we had to celebrate
and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been
found.'"
Lk. 16:1 Now He was also saying to the disciples, "There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to
him as squandering his possessions. 2 "And he called him and said to him, 'What is this I hear
about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'
3 "The manager
said to himself, 'What shall I do, since my master is taking the management
away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 'I know what I shall do, so
that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their
homes.' 5 "And
he summoned each one of his master's debtors, and he began saying to the
first, 'How much do you owe my master?' 6
"And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he
said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.' 7 "Then he said to
another, 'And how much do you owe?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.'
He *said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.' 8 "And his master
praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of
this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light.
9 "And I say to you,
make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that
when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings. 10 "He who is faithful
in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a
very little thing is unrighteous also in much. 11
"Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous
wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12 "And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is
another's, who will give you that which is your own? 13 "No servant can serve
two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he
will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and
wealth."
Lk. 16:15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of
men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is
detestable in the sight of God. 16 "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until
John; since that time the gospel of the kingdom of God has been preached, and
everyone is forcing his way into it. 17 "But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than
for one stroke of a letter of the Law to fail. 18
"Everyone who divorces his wife and marries
another commits adultery, and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband
commits adultery.
Lk. 16:19 "Now there was
a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living
in splendor every day. 20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate,
covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling
from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his
sores. 22 "Now
the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom; and
the rich man also died and was buried. 23
"In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment,
and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 "And he cried out and
said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip
the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in
this flame.' 25 "But
Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good
things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here,
and you are in agony. 26 'And besides all this, between us and you there is a great
chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be
able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' 27 "And he said, 'Then I
beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- 28 for I have five
brothers--in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to
this place of torment.' 29 "But Abraham *said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets;
let them hear them.' 30 "But he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes
to them from the dead, they will repent!' 31
"But he said to him, 'If they do not listen to
Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from
the dead.'"
Lk. 17:1 He said to His disciples, "It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to
him through whom they come! 2 "It would be better for him if a millstone were hung
around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one
of these little ones to stumble. 3 "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and
if he repents, forgive him. 4 "And if he sins against you seven times a day, and
returns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' forgive him."
Lk. 17:6 And the Lord said, "If
you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be
uprooted and be planted in the sea'; and it would obey you. 7 "Which of you, having
a slave plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the
field, 'Come immediately and sit down to eat'? 8
"But will he not say to him, 'Prepare something
for me to eat, and properly clothe yourself and serve me while I eat and drink; and
afterward you may eat and drink'? 9 "He does not thank the slave because he did the things
which were commanded, does he? 10 "So you too, when you do all the things which are
commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought
to have done.'"
Jn. 11:4 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "This
sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of
God may be glorified by it." 7 Then
after this He *said to the disciples, "Let us go
to
Jn. 11:23 Jesus *said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 25
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the
life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and
believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" 34 and said, "Where have
you laid him?" They *said to Him, "Lord, come and see."
Jn. 11:39 Jesus *said, "Remove
the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased, *said to Him,
"Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days." 40
Jesus *said to her, "Did I not say to you that if
you believe, you will see the glory of God?" 41 So they removed the stone. Then Jesus raised His
eyes, and said, "Father, I thank You that You have
heard Me. 42 "I
knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said
it, so that they may believe that You sent Me." 43 When He had said these things, He cried out with a
loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth." 44 The man who had died came forth, bound hand and
foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus *said
to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."
Lk. 17:14 When He saw them, He said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And
as they were going, they were cleansed. 17 Then
Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten
cleansed? But the nine--where are they? 18
"Was no one found who returned to give glory to
God, except this foreigner?" 19 And
He said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has
made you well."
Lk. 17:20 Now having been questioned by the Pharisees
as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be
observed; 21 nor
will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst."
22 And He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will long to see one of the
days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 "They will say to you, 'Look
there! Look here!' Do not go away, and do not run after them. 24 "For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one
part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be
in His day. 25 "But
first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. 26 "And just as it
happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27 they were eating,
they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them
all. 28 "It
was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were
drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were
building; 29 but
on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from
heaven and destroyed them all. 30 "It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man
is revealed. 31 "On
that day, the one who is on the housetop and whose goods are in the house must
not go down to take them out; and likewise the one who is in the field must not
turn back. 32 "Remember
Lot's wife. 33 "Whoever
seeks to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve
it. 34 "I
tell you, on that night there will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the
other will be left. 35 "There will be two women grinding at the same place; one
will be taken and the other will be left. 36
"Two men will be in the field; one will be taken
and the other will be left."] 37
And answering they *said to Him, "Where, Lord?" And He said to them, "Where the body is, there also the vultures will be gathered."
Lk. 18:2 saying, "In a
certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man.
3 "There was a
widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Give me legal
protection from my opponent.' 4 "For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to
himself, 'Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow
bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming
she will wear me out.'" 6 And the Lord
said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge *said;
7 now, will not God
bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He
delay long over them? 8 "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them
quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the
earth?"
Lk. 18:10 "Two men went
up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
11 "The Pharisee
stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like
other people: swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 'I fast twice a
week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' 13
"But the tax collector, standing some distance
away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his
breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' 14 "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather
than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who
humbles himself will be exalted."
Mt. 19:4 And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5 and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'? 6 "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." 8 He *said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. 9 "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."10 The disciples *said to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry." 11 But He said to them, "Not all men can accept this statement, but only those to whom it has been given. 12 "For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb; and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are also eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. He who is able to accept this, let him accept it." [Mk. 10:5-12]
Mk. 10:14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant
and said to them, "Permit the children to come to
Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15 "Truly I say to
you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it
at all." [Mt. 19:14, Lk. 18.16-17]
Mt. 19:17 And He
